Opinions of Members and Suggestions for Marketers |
Full Text
:
I will begin with some of the comments that have come in to me from other TCI members:
1) My marketer is a very close long time friend, and although I do value our friendship, I also believe that the marketers should bear some responsibility. Not only did I invest with TCI through my friend/ marketer, I also introduced an acquaintance of mine to my friend/ marketer. The result is that I feel guilty that through my actions, someone else was scammed.
2) In addition to assisting us, in my view, the Marketers should in good faith return the money they made in commission to our legal counsel to help fund the fight against TCI.
3) The marketers should be responsible.......we paid them enough to even get into TCI on their advice.
4) To My Marketer: You got me into this mess. You attended monthly meetings in London where you met with TCI management and you made a lot of commission from the sale of the required Global Prosperity and NewShore. What do you plan to do to help all of us get money back out of this horrible situation? In good conscience you can’t say you don’t know the players to ask.
5) We have to question the loyalties of our Marketers who seem to be concerned only with themselves, or protecting their TCI management friends. Why aren’t they trying to help members who are the ones most victimized?
Their comments make us all think about the role played by Marketers in the TCI situation. When I think of Marketers, I think of those who have sold 20 plus memberships, or 50 or 150 or 450. If you do the math, there was significant money received by Marketers. I won’t use the word “earned” to describe the way they solicited this money from us, merrily dangling the promise of higher than normal earnings, and a better life for ourselves and our families. But, let’s not get into a discussion of whether they knew or should have known that this was going to end up this way. I’d prefer to look at their actions over the last three years. By November 2004 it was almost 2 years since TCI stopped paying out but our Marketers assured us that our money was SAFE and would soon be returned to us. Six months later this website was launched and began to discuss issues related to the problems. A class action lawsuit was begun and both the defendants and the TCI members who are paying for the action are spending money and time to unravel this mess. Many tens of thousands of dollars have already been spent with lots more to come. And what have the Marketers done to help? On a one to one basis some of them are still continuing to say that the website is returning and money is coming. Most other Marketers are trying to disappear and when contacted will say they know nothing. These are just defense strategies to keep us away, from having to share with any of us what they really know is happening and, the bigger issue, what they are prepared to do about it. Yes, the point of this article is the RESPONSIBILITY of the Marketers to help us now. It is funny that so many of them are Churchgoing folks since their behavior does not reflect Church teachings. There is a wall of secrecy around them and what seems to be either an individual or collective decision to say as little as possible to anyone about what they know. ( A major Marketer said the other day that he plans to say as little as possible to anyone.) This is intended to protect themselves from us and from consequences. I suggest that this response is very selfish on many levels. These people have important information that, even if it is a small piece, will help us more quickly put together this puzzle and get to the point of resolution. It will cost us far less in money and stress, and one would assume would provide them with a small measure of relief that they had tried to do something to help all the people they affected. So, what specific actions could individual or groups of Marketers do to help us now?
1) Contact our lawyer, David Kirwin, at SKM, 519-433-8155 and arrange to meet to discuss whatever information they can contribute to assist our case. This might save us tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and wrap this up much faster. This would be the best alternative because it saves both time and money.
2) As suggested by a member above, contact Mr. Kirwin and offer to assist financially in the recovery of our funds. In many cases, you were the only one to make money by bringing people into TCI. Doesn’t that bother you? Our lawyer’s email address is: dkirwin@skmlawyers.com.
3) Speak together with other Marketers to come forward as a group to assist us, encouraging other Marketers to step forward. Show some responsibility. As the one member said: You got us into this mess, so what are you going to do about it?
